Patients who are HIV or AIDS positives can still get life insurance policies in most cases. There are a couple of life insurance companies that offer such policy that certain state laws offer some measure of protection for patients who have HIV or AIDS.
There are some medical advancement nowadays for AIDS or HIV treatment that help improve the lives of the patients and make them live longer. Most life insurers consider HIV or AIDS as a high risk condition and will automatically reject applications from patients. Some would even require those who have negative results for HIV to undergo more testing to determine window period and make sure that the person is not suffering from AIDS or HIV.
Some insurance companies will not cover those who died due to AIDS or HIV even though they have acquired the virus after buying the policy.
Don’t worry there are still life insurance companies that will cover HIV or AIDS patients. However, because of the high risk involved in insuring these individuals, the life insurance premiums can be very expensive. The rates can be 3-5 times more than those policyholders that do not have HIV or AIDS.
